Paintsandpixels accepts selected commission work, mainly focused on aviation, aircraft, helicopters, military aircraft, squadron pieces and related subjects.
Each commission is created carefully by hand from a blank screen or canvas, so the work does take time. This is not automated artwork, AI artwork or a quick digital edit.
If you have an aircraft, helicopter, squadron subject, display team, vehicle or aviation-related idea you would like turned into a piece of artwork, please get in touch to discuss what may be possible.
Please note: Paintsandpixels does not currently undertake animal portraits, pet portraits or scenery-based commissions.
Tell us what you'd like created and send any reference photos.
We'll talk through the size, format, finish and whether you want an original, print, sign, etching or vinyl piece.
Your artwork is created with care and made to feel personal, original and meaningful.

Paintsandpixels is not a mass-produced print shop. It is a personal creative project offering original artwork, custom pieces and affordable creative work. Every enquiry is handled directly, and commissions can be discussed properly before anything is agreed.
Now based in North Devon, Paintsandpixels is the work of a veteran artist creating hand-made aviation artwork, prints, commissions, glass etching and metal etching. Every piece is created manually from a blank canvas or blank screen, with no AI and no automated shortcuts.
"No AI. No shortcuts. Every piece starts from a blank screen or canvas and is built by hand."
Paintsandpixels began through a very personal journey. I first started painting in 2011 while attending Combat Stress, a charity that supports veterans living with PTSD. Up until that point, I had not really done any artwork since school, and back then I never particularly enjoyed it. I always found it frustrating because I could not create what I could see in my head.
That changed when I began painting again. I originally worked with acrylics on canvas, building each piece slowly by hand. Around five years ago, I moved over to digital art, working on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil and Procreate. Although the tools have changed, the way I work has not. I still approach every digital piece in the same way I approached canvas painting — carefully, patiently and from the beginning.
Every piece starts from a blank screen and is built up by hand. There is no Photoshop used to create the artwork, and there is no AI used in any of my work. Each image is created manually, layer by layer, until the finished piece is complete.
Aviation has always been a major part of my life. I have always had a strong interest in aircraft, especially helicopters, and I was lucky enough to work with them during my time in the Army Air Corps. I also have an air defence background, so aircraft have been part of my working life as well as my personal interests. That connection naturally became a major influence in my artwork.
I enjoy creating aviation artwork of all kinds, from helicopters and classic aircraft to squadron pieces, display teams and personal commissions. However, I do not undertake work that depicts war environments. For me, the artwork is about the aircraft, the people, the memory, the engineering and the subject itself — not what it does in conflict.
Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to create work for retired British Airways crews who flew the Boeing 747 and Concorde, as well as commissions connected to 19 Squadron at RAF Valley, 22 Squadron Search and Rescue RAF, and the Royal Navy Black Cats display team. I have also had artwork endorsed by the Red Arrows, who very kindly signed prints of my work.
Whenever possible, I try to have prints signed so that copies can be donated to veterans’ charities and used for fundraising. Supporting veteran causes through my artwork is something I am very proud to be able to do.
My original acrylic canvas pieces could take anything up to six months to complete, often with several works in progress at the same time. My digital pieces can take anywhere from 12 hours to over 250 hours, depending on the level of detail involved. I do take on commission work, but it is important to understand that each piece takes time. These are not quick edits or automated designs. They are hand-created pieces of artwork, built carefully from start to finish.
I enlisted at sixteen and a half and served for 15 years. I grew up in Wiltshire and Cornwall, although I consider Cornwall home. I now live in North Devon and can often be found at public events throughout the summer months.

Paintsandpixels also offers glass and metal etching. Customers supply the item, and the design is etched by hand using aluminium oxide and sandblasting. Single items and bulk orders can be discussed, but larger orders need plenty of notice due to the time involved.
Alongside aviation artwork and prints, Paintsandpixels also creates hand-finished personalised items including glass etching, metal etching, slate signs and custom vinyl decals.
Paintsandpixels can also create personalised etched and vinyl items for gifts, clubs, teams, squadrons, events and personal projects. If you have a logo, crest, name, phrase or design idea, get in touch to discuss what may be possible.
For etching work, customers usually supply the item they would like etched. This could include glassware, metal mugs, plaques, signs or other suitable surfaces. Each job is discussed individually before work begins.
These pieces are created by hand, not automated mass production. Glass and metal etching is completed using aluminium oxide and sandblasting. Single items and larger orders can be discussed, but more detailed or bulk work will need extra time.
Please note: for glass and metal etching, the customer normally provides the item to be etched. Bulk orders are possible, but will require plenty of notice because the work is completed by hand.
